Linen paper fused to a cotten core - a vision of the unexpected
Each packet of Habu Textiles 1/6.5 Paper Ring contains 101yd/0.5oz, 64% linen, 36% cotton. We suggest 3.5mm/US 4 as a starting point for a standard stockinette fabric - but there is nothing standard about Paper Ring, so do experiment and discover this yarn's gifts for yourself.
*****
Habu's Paper Ring is one of the most inventive and inviting yarns we have seen in years. Whether you want to make a simple curtain (think Mason-Dixon Knitting's Bubbly Curtain), or a mysteriously compelling wrap, or a cutting edge jacket, Paper Ring won't let you down. The fabric your needles will produce will be unexpected and captivating, your delight in it, unbounded.
Don't be fooled by the word "paper" - this is not a flimsy yarn that can never get wet or be washed. The "paper" in its name simply means that the linen fiber was pulverized, the way wood chips are for writing paper, and then pressed onto the cotton core. The technology that achieved all this also makes this yarn strong, sturdy and very washable. Just treat it as you would any fine fiber, and hand wash with a quality wool wash (never use anything like Woolite on any fibers you care about).
If you are ready for something radically different and deliciously beautiful in knitting and fiber, Paper Ring will fill the bill and then some. This is an adventurous yarn, a yarn destined to blaze new trails of knitting possibilities.
