Each packet of Habu Textiles 1/12 Silk Mohair Kusa contains 186yd/0.5oz, 60% mohair, 40% silk. We suggest inviting its bloom into your fabric by using, say, a 3.25mm/US 3 or so as a starting point for either lace or stockinette.

We have been contemplating what it is, exactly, that sets Habu's 1/12 Silk Mohair Kusa apart from similar yarns. We believe it is the rebalancing of the proportion of mohair to silk that makes this lace-quality yarn so very exceptional, even upon first sight. A little less mohair and a little more silk create a yarn that speaks in a brighter tone and knits with a surer hand. Then, too, that extra silk has given each of the plant-dyes a place in the sun, a fiber that sends its color out into the world in the best of all possible ways. The depth and complexity of each color is an astonishing counterpoint to its subtlety and grace. This is not your average kid silk, not by half.
